I’m not someone who is very fashion conscious. In fact, I’ve been busted by the fashion police on many occasions. However, I’ve been invited to a place called Don Alfonso 1890 for a private dinner. From what I’ve read online, and told by my friends, this looks like a pretty upscale restaurant. I’m not sure what to wear to a fine dining restaurant. Does anyone know what I should wear?

Oh, I’ve been there! Yeah, it’s an upscale restaurant with a very classy and luxurious atmosphere. As you’d expect, the food and service were both excellent. For men, you should wear a jacket and a tie. For women, you should also pick out your best black dress for the special occasion. If the restaurant is a fine dining establishment like this one, then you need to be wearing your best clothes.

Find out if there is some kind of dress code from the person who invited you. You could also call the restaurant and ask them. What better than direct from the horse’s mouth? If they are a classy, fine dining place, I’m sure they will be gracious enough to advise you. They can tell you what isn’t suitable and what is.

Are you celebrating a special occasion? Or is it just a casual gathering between a bunch of friends getting together? I think you should be formally dressed either way, but if it’s just a causal event between friends, you don’t have to go too over-the-top with your clothing choices.

Try to wear some nice clothes and shoes. Wear a pair of dress pants and a dress shirt and a tie. Don’t wear sneakers to finish the ensemble! Don’t wear jeans or anything that is ripped, no matter how cool you think you look.

I think if you wear smart casual, you should be fine. However, just like someone mentioned, find out what this whole thing is about. That will help. The more you know, the easier it will be to dress for the occasion. If you aren’t comfortable asking the host, why not ask some of the other party guests? What are they wearing for the dinner?

I think just following your common sense will be fine. You don’t have to splurge on a new outfit or anything. Just wear something sleek and elegant. You’ll be fine.

It is hard to answer your question correctly since I haven’t been to that restaurant before. There are different types of fashion for these kinds of restaurants, such as causal wear, casual elegant, formal wear, business casual, etc. You may have to wear a suit and women may have to wear a long gown. It all depends on the occasion. To be on the safe side, assuming you don’t know too many details, I’d say wear something you would wear in an office, like business casual. This goes for both men and women.
